Pat Mcmanus Band is an Irish group led by guitarist, violinist, singer and songwriter Pat McManus. The act forms as McManus’s solo project in 2007 and continues as a trio built around his playing and songwriting.

Background

Pat McManus is born in Derrylin, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, into a musical family and begins performing with the family band. He makes his first television appearance at the age of seven and wins several awards for his violin playing at a very young age. In the late 1970s, he and his two brothers move from traditional music into rock, first forming Pulse and then, after a name change, Mama’s Boys.

Band line-up and work

The Pat McManus Band is formed in 2007 and is joined by Paul Faloon on drums and Marty McDermott on bass. The group tours regularly across Europe in clubs and at festivals. It releases three CDs and three live DVDs, with another release mentioned as planned for 2013.

Style and recognition

The band is associated with blues rock, rock, hard rock and Irish rock. McManus is also placed in various polls as one of the top five Irish guitarists of all time. His earlier work and playing draw recognition from music press, and he is identified as a former member of Mama’s Boys and Celtus.
