Part 1

Part 1 is a UK anarcho-punk group from London, active since 1980. The band plays punk within the anarcho-punk scene, and is associated with a darker strain of DIY British punk. Its sound is described as gloomy, and it sits alongside groups such as The Mob and Rudimentary Peni in taking a darker approach to the politics of that period.

Releases and recognition

The band’s Pictures Of Pain release appears on the US hardcore label Pusmort, run by Pushead, the singer of Septic Death and an artist. Pushead is strongly impressed by the group and includes some of their tracks on the compilation LP Cleanse The Bacteria. Nick Blinko of Rudimentary Peni helps finance Part 1’s first EP.
