Park Ranger

Park Ranger is an indie pop and rock trio from the Hudson Valley region of New York. The group forms in 2002 after the indefinite hiatus of its earlier project, Joshua, a Doghouse Records act that releases two LPs, several EPs and tours extensively in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Line-up

The band consists of Sean Hansen on vocals and bass guitar, Keith Bogart on guitar, and Shane Chikeles on drums and vocals.

Recording and releases

After a period of shows and demo recording, Park Ranger begins work on its debut full-length, Safe Without Sound. The album is released on Parrot on a Porch Records. Recording takes place at The Buddy Project in Astoria, Queens, with Dan Coutant, a former Joshua vocalist, as producer. J. Robbins, known for work with Jawbox, Burning Airlines and Channels, mixes most of the album.

Safe Without Sound also receives a special edition release in Japan on Waver Waver Records.

Touring and activity

Following the album’s release in 2008, the band expands its touring and shows increased interest online and at live dates. It also plays a successful headlining tour in February 2009. The group continues to work on material for a follow-up release.
