PAPA B

PAPA B, also credited as PAPA-B, is a Japanese reggae DJ and entertainer from Hokkaido, Japan. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Japanese reggae DJ scene and is associated with the LIFE STYLE label owned by MIGHTY CROWN.

Career

In the late 1980s, he performs under the name PAPA BON and is active in his hometown of Sapporo. In 1993, he leaves Japan to travel in the United States, New York, and Jamaica, and continues to release singles while abroad. He returns to Japan in 1998 and then tours widely around the country for live performances and releases.

Style

His delivery is described as rapid and highly rhythmic, with lyrics that address social issues through a mix of humour and unexpected imagery. His approach combines comic elements with more serious themes.
