Paloma Faith is an English singer and actress from Stoke Newington, London. Born Paloma Faith Blomfield in 1981, she works in pop, soul, dance-pop, neo soul and R&B, and her music draws on soul and jazz. Her singing style is often compared with Amy Winehouse and Duffy.

Recording career

Faith’s debut single, Stone Cold Sober, reaches number 17 in the UK charts, and her second single, New York, reaches number 15. Her first album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, peaks at number 9 in the UK and later goes double platinum. Her second studio album, Fall to Grace, reaches number two and also goes double platinum. It produces her first top ten single, Picking Up the Pieces, as well as a top twenty cover of INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart.

Her third album, A Perfect Contradiction, becomes her most successful album and includes the top ten singles Can’t Rely on You and Only Love Can Hurt Like This, the latter becoming her highest-charting UK single. Her fourth album, The Architect, follows in 2017.

Awards and screen work

Faith wins Best British Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards in 2015 and is nominated four other times. She also appears in the feature films The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Dread and the 2007 remake of St Trinian’s.
