Overlap

Overlap is a UK-based electro audiovisual duo active since 1999. The act works in the field of electronic music and is associated with psytrance, psychedelic trance, psychedelic, full-on and related electronic styles.

Formation and members

One account identifies Overlap as the project of Carlo Cerati, an Italian musician whose early listening included punk rock and rock and roll. After hearing Daft Punk’s Homework in 1997, he turns toward electronic music and joins a hard techno live setup from 1999 to 2001. He later meets Davide Meinero while both are attending an English literature course, and the two begin working together as Overlap.

Style and activity

The duo’s music is described as moving between electro house and electro techno, with an Italo disco-influenced dancefloor approach. Their output includes material issued as the Differance EP, which includes tracks from the Cerati and Meinero collaboration.

Overlap has released the Velven EP and Glow Blink Slow EP.
