Outmode

Outmode is the combined project of John Donaghy and Jeremy Duffy. Their music spans deep house and draws on disco, soul, jazz, house, techno, pop, rock, electro and ghetto influences. The duo has support from a wide range of DJs and producers, including Groove Armada, Rob Da Bank, Aeroplane, Dubfire, Ewan Pearson, Funk D Void, James Zabiela, Tronik Youth, Ben Mono, Pete Tong, Shur I Khan, Nic Fanciulli and Azzido Da Bass.

Releases and radio support

The debut single, “True”, receives substantial radio play across BBC Radio programmes. It gains particular attention when Groove Armada stands in for Pete Tong on Essential Selection, and Pete Tong later names it his “Essential Tune” on his international radio show. The follow-up single, “Funky Music”, appears in July 2008 and includes remixes by the Grammy-nominated Buick Project, the production duo of Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterly, as well as Beat Pharmacy.

Outmode’s Rope Burn EP is described as a deep house release and debuts on Carl Cox’s Global and on BBC Radio 1 with Rob Da Bank. The track also receives support from Dubfire, Shur I Khan and Lee Burridge.

Style and collaborations

Outmode’s tracks combine a broad range of club and non-club influences, giving the project a style that moves between house and techno while also taking in elements of soul, jazz and pop. The name also appears in another context as a Tampa musician associated with minimal techno, ambient and progressive dance music, and connected with MLU, Odem Press and performances alongside Diamond Hymen.
