Orgy

Orgy is an industrial rock band from Los Angeles, United States, active from 1994 to the present. The group is associated with industrial rock and rock, and its line-up has included Amir Derakh, Paige Haley, Bobby Hewitt, Ryan Shuck, Jay Gordon, Ashburn Miller, Jamie Miller, Carlton Bost, Nic Speck, Bobby Amaro and Creighton Emrick.

Career

The band forms in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s and soon signs to Korn’s Elementree label. Its first album, Candyass, follows quickly. Orgy then appears on the Family Values tour in 1998, which helps bring the band to a wider audience.

Its first major hit is a cover of New Order’s Blue Monday. Further singles include Stitches and Fiction (Dreams in Digital). A second album, Vapor Transmission, follows, after which the band leaves Elementree and becomes less visible in the mainstream.

In 2004, Orgy releases its third album, Punk Statik Paranoia, through Jay Gordon’s D1 Music. Jay Gordon establishes D1 Music with his father. Around the same period, Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh also begin the electronic-oriented side project Julien-K.

Related projects and collaborations

Bobby briefly joins Snake River Conspiracy. Julien-K later records a song featuring Chester Bennington of Linkin Park for the Underworld Evolution soundtrack, and Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh later form Dead By Sunrise with Bennington.

Amir Derakh is also remembered through the Coal Chamber track Amir of the Desert, and he produces Coal Chamber’s debut album. Jay Gordon appears on Coal Chamber’s follow-up, Chamber Music.

Later activity

In the 2010s, the band continues with changes in membership and touring activity. Jay Gordon states that he keeps the Orgy name and continues to make new music, while later touring and recording activity includes the Bad Blood Tour, a line-up featuring members of Deadsy, Snot and Run Run Run, with Gordon as the only original member on that tour. The band also records material that includes a collaboration with Skrillex, and later shares a short demo of Grime of the Century. In 2013, Orgy tours with Vampires Everywhere! and Davey Suicide on the Wide Awake and Dead Tour.
