Orbit

Orbit is a Boston-based rock band from the United States. The group begins in the 1990s and is active from 1994 to the present. Its members are Paul Buckley, Wally Gagel and Jeff Lowe Robbins, and it is headed by Jeff Robbins.

Career

The band starts by playing shows on the East Coast and builds enough attention to attract A&M Records. The label releases the group’s debut album, Libido Speedway, in 1997. The album includes the single “Medicine,” which receives modest radio and video play. Orbit tours the festival circuit nationally, but the band is later dropped by A&M.

After that, the group forms its own independent label, Lunch Records, and releases its second album, xlr8r, in 2001. The band then goes on hiatus shortly afterwards. It also performs at Brighton Music Hall in Allston on 22 November 2023.

Style and identity

Orbit is described as an alternative rock band. The name is also used by several other acts, including a European big beat DJ, a Czech techno/electro DJ, and a German indie-electronica band, but the Boston group is the rock band associated with Jeff Robbins.
