Ookay

Ookay is the stage name of a producer and DJ from Chula Vista, United States, born in 1992. He is associated with trap and electronic music, and works under the name TRICKSTAR as a member project. Pronounced “okay,” he develops a style built around trap rhythms while drawing on house and alternative dance influences.

Career

Ookay emerges as part of the American trap scene after his first two releases on Ultra Records both reach the top 10 on Beatport. He works with a range of established electronic artists and producers, including Borgore, Diplo, DJ Snake, Showtek, Deorro, TJR, Boaz Van de Beatz, Valentino Kahn, Waveracer, Cashmere Cat, Lindsay Lowend, Skrillex, Lido and Wiwek.

He builds a catalogue of remixes that includes Congorock’s “Bless Di Nation Ft. Sean Paul” and Steve Aoki, Chris Lake & Tujamo’s “Boneless.” He also works with Diplo on a remix of Avicii’s “You Make Me,” and remixes “Kanye” by the Chainsmokers for Republic and Dim Mak Records.

Releases and projects

His single “Bouncer,” produced with Showtek, reaches the top 3 of the Beatport overall chart after its release in March 2014 and becomes a regular feature at summer festival stages. His release Ghost, on Dim Mak Records, includes both club-focused tracks and more restrained material such as “Ghost” and “Matters,” alongside “Egg Drop Soup.”

Ookay’s side project Coaster gives him a separate outlet for alternative dance and house music.

Live performance

He appears at venues and events including EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, Red Rocks and TomorrowWorld. His live sets are noted for smooth transitions, careful song selection and MC work from the booth.
