One Way System are a punk band from Fleetwood, England, formed in 1979 and still active. They are associated with punk, punk rock, street punk, Oi! and the UK82 scene. The group’s line-up includes Bob Grant, Craig Halliday, Gavin Whyte, Gaz Buckley, Tez McDonald, Dave Crabtree, Tom Couch, Andy Gibson, Andy Wilkinson, Lee Havok, Jay Susel and ukNige.

Background

One Way System emerge in the early 1980s as part of the second wave of punk, at a time when Oi! and skinhead culture are described as having moved away from the original punk ethos. The band is noted for bridging that gap with a direct, hard-edged style. They build a reputation for sharp live performances and a professional approach, and they gain visibility beyond the UK punk scene.

The band’s profile extends from coverage in Sounds to appearances at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
