Olympians
Olympians is a name used by three different bands. One version starts as a music group in a basement in Norwich, with an early setup of guitar, bass, drums and a song about the board game Risk. That project expands to include a second guitar, two keyboards, glockenspiel, trumpet and four voices, and its sound moves from guitar-pop into brass-led, synth-heavy songs, with material that ranges from drones to barbershop harmonies.
Another Olympians is a five-piece indie band from Indianapolis, Indiana. That line-up includes Ryan on vocals, guitar; Max on vocals, keys, guitar; Ryan on drums and percussives; Daniel on trumpet, keys and vocals; and Patrick on bass guitar and guitar. Their music is described as indie rock in the style of Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie, and they follow an EP titled You Are My Inspiration.
A third Olympians is a Greek pop group active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is founded by Pashalis Arvanitidis on vocals and bass, Vagelis “Sporos” Koutsotolis on saxophone, Koulis Kaloyannidis on guitar, Dimitris “Jack” Lazaridis on drums, and Alkis Kakaliagos on piano and Hammond organ. The members come from the groups Brahms and Vips. Their first major hit is “O Tropos” (“The Way”), which combines Greek lyrics with contemporary European dance music and rock and roll.
