Old Sea Brigade

Old Sea Brigade is the solo project of Ben Cramer, a singer and songwriter raised in Atlanta, Georgia and based in Nashville. He begins using the name in 2015 after several years performing in bands around the Atlanta area.

Early releases and label work

Old Sea Brigade emerges in 2016 with a self-released eponymous debut EP. The release brings him attention for a sound that combines folk, country, Americana and indie rock, with comparisons drawn to Bon Iver, Iron and Wine and the National. The EP leads to support slots on his first U.S. tour with Hiss Golden Messenger, Julien Baker and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Later in 2016 he signs to Nettwerk. His first single for the label is “All the Same,” which appears in September 2016 and is later included on Wash Me Away, the first of three EPs he releases in 2017. The other two are Cover My Own, which includes “Tidal Wave,” a track that gains significant play on streaming platforms, and the Christmas EP Songs for the Holidays.

Debut album

In 2018 he releases the singles “Hope,” “Feel You” and “Sinkhole,” which lead into his first full-length album, Ode to a Friend, released in 2019.
