Objekt is the recording name of TJ Hertz, a UK- and Germany-based electronic artist. He works in techno-inflected dubstep and related electronic styles, and his early releases place him in the area between techno, dubstep, minimal and IDM.

Early releases and sound

Objekt first appears with a white-label release in January, issued as two tracks that move from sparse beginnings into dense, escalating passages. The release is followed by Objekt #2, which includes “Unglued” and “CLK Recovery”. His music is described as building from simple sounds towards high intensity, with a strong emphasis on texture and technical detail.

Work as TJ Hertz

Alongside DJing and production, Hertz works as a software developer for Native Instruments. He brings technical knowledge from an inquisitive childhood, a degree in electronic engineering, and professional work in that field into his music-making.

Remix work

He also contributes a remix of “Timora” for the Staircase EP by Call Super on Five Easy Pieces. The release is mentioned as part of a wider stream of work following his early white-label records.
