Noyo Mathis

Noyo Mathis is a Hampshire-based group that forms in late 2011 and remains active. The band consists of brothers Jamie Savill and Toby Savill, together with Daniel England. Jamie Savill plays bass and sings, Toby Savill plays guitar and sings, and Daniel England plays drums and percussion.

Style and sound

The band works in a mix of math rock, indie and post-hardcore, with songs built as short, tightly controlled bursts of energy. Their music combines melodic choruses, vocal harmonies and technical playing with heavy noise. It also features nimble drums, intricate guitar lines and a forceful bass sound, alongside shifts between loud and quiet passages and moments of restraint.

Their music is also described in relation to early emo and post-rock, with a sense of tension, spaciousness and rebuilding within the songs. The writing focuses on themes of life, death, hope and the space between them.

Releases and live activity

Noyo Mathis releases its debut EP, Tethers, in mid-2012. It then adds the EP Ages and the record Endure. The group also supports Minus the Bear, Tellison, This Town Needs Guns (TTNG), I Am the Avalanche, 1994!, Delta Sleep and Suffer Like G Did.
