Now, Now

Now, Now is an American indie rock group from Blaine, Minnesota, formed in 2003 and based in Minneapolis. The band is active from 2003 and is known for changing line-up and evolving names, beginning as Now, Now Every Children before shortening to Now, Now.

Formation and early years

Cacie Dalager and Bradley Hale meet in high school marching band in Blaine, where they are both sixteen. They start writing songs together, first with an acoustic song dedicated to a friend who is leaving for college. The band name comes from a typing error while the group are talking with friends online through an old band account; the phrase is first considered as a possible EP title before becoming the official name.

For the first EP and early live shows in the Minneapolis area, Dalager and Hale are joined by Brad Hale’s sister Britty on keyboards and school friend Justin Schweim on bass. Schweim later leaves the live setup shortly before the first album recording, and Christine Sako steps in.

Line-up

The band centres on Cacie Dalager, who sings and plays guitar and keyboard, and Bradley Hale, who plays drums and provides backing vocals. Jess Abbott joins in summer 2009 after moving from Maine to Minnesota, first as a temporary member and then as a permanent one.

Releases

Now, Now releases two full-length albums and five EPs. The band’s work is associated with indie rock and broader rock classification.
