Nocturn

Nocturn is a German southern rock band from Hamburg, Germany. It is one of several acts using the name Nocturn, including a Dutch death/thrash metal band, a French electronic dance music duo, a Turkish grind band, and black metal bands from Romania, Finland, and Chile.

The German Nocturn is identified as a southern rock band based in Hamburg. The name is also used by a Dutch death/thrash metal group from Eibergen, who release one full-length album, Estranged Dimensions, through Old World Records in 1991. The same name is used by a Romanian black metal band with a style that moves between raw and melodic material, and who issue the EP Impending Damnation in 2010. A Finnish black metal Nocturn forms in 1995 in Tampere before splitting up, and a Chilean black metal Nocturn forms in 2006 and produces four releases.

Additional acts called Nocturn include a French electronic dance music duo associated with FuturePlayLabel, a Turkish grind band from Izmir with guitars played by Utku Atalay, a producer from the Semiotics crew who returns in 2007 with a release of new beats, and a hard rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who issue the debut EP Out Of The Blue in 2008.
