No Joy
No Joy is a Canadian shoegaze band from Montréal, formed in 2009. The group begins as a songwriting project between guitarist and vocalist Jasamine White-Gluz and guitarist and vocalist Laura Lloyd, who write together while living in different cities before White-Gluz moves to Montréal and the pair start performing live.
Style and early release
The band’s sound combines hazy guitars and layered vocals, and it places them alongside acts from across the heavier and more melodic indie spectrum. Their first release is a self-titled 7-inch issued by Mexican Summer. It is produced by Graham Van Pelt of Miracle Fortress.
Albums and line-up changes
No Joy expands from a duo into a four-piece before the release of its first album, Ghost Blonde. The album is mixed by Sune Rose-Wagner of The Raveonettes and appears in 2010. The band follows it with Wait To Pleasure in 2013, then with the EP Pastel and Pass Out later that same year.
