Ninebarrow
Ninebarrow are a UK folk duo from Dorset, made up of Jon Whitley and Jay Labouchardiere. They perform vocal harmonies with a range of instruments, including tenor ukulele and mandola, and their music sits in a folk-influenced style.
The duo’s original songs draw on landscape and history from places they visit around the country. Their repertoire also includes traditional unaccompanied songs and contemporary folk covers, which they adapt in their own way.
Ninebarrow’s material is shaped by local music sessions and by performances at British folk festivals. Their debut EP, Kingdom, is recognised as one of Ukulelehunt.com’s records of the year. In 2013, they win the Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award, and they are also named number one in Drunkenwerewolf Magazine’s Hidden Acoustic Gems of 2013.
