Nifra is a trance DJ and producer from Michalovce, Slovakia, born in 1988. She works in trance, progressive trance, uplifting trance, electronic and electronica, and is associated with the newer generation of trance and progressive producers in central Europe.

Career

Nifra begins her career in the progressive scene, playing warm-up sets at major shows in Slovakia and the Czech Republic for artists including Tiësto. In 2008, she makes the move from progressive DJing into the nu-trance scene with her first release on Armada Music. She describes that first Armada release as an important turning point for both her sound and her live career, as it leads to bookings across Europe.

Her performances extend to Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Sweden, and she later gains attention from international producers including Leon Bolier, Breakfast and Ashley Wallbridge, who commission remixes from her.

Radio show and releases

Nifra’s radio show, Be Progressed, and her tracks build an international online following. Her music reaches listeners in places including Los Angeles, Cyprus and Asia. Her track Different Ways, made with Progresia, appears in the Beatport trance chart top 10 in 2010.

Reception and scene position

Her tracks receive support from DJs including Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Sander Van Doorn, Andy Moor and Marcus Schossow. She is noted as succeeding in a male-dominated scene by keeping attention on the music rather than image.
