Nick Luscombe

Nick Luscombe is a UK broadcaster, radio producer, DJ, music consultant, soundscape artist and sound and music collector, based between London and Tokyo. Born in 1966, he is active as a music maker and DJ from his teens and builds a career around radio, club performance and recorded compilations.

Radio and broadcasting

He becomes known as one of the UK’s influential radio DJs through his long-running weekly Flo-Motion show on XFM, where he presents eclectic new music every Sunday evening for six years. The programme later moves to Resonance 104.4FM. He is also described as a broadcaster and producer, with a reputation for extensive musical knowledge and record collecting.

DJ work and club appearances

Alongside broadcasting, Luscombe works regularly as a club DJ and appears at large outdoor festivals and smaller club events. In London, his residencies and appearances include the ICA, Flomotion Live at Big Chill House, Flomotion Foundations at Concrete and Southbank Centre, and sets at The End for Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly nights.

Recordings, compilations and writing

He compiles two albums of modern club music and releases three mix projects associated with Flo-Motion, including two critically regarded volumes and a mix CD for Exceptional Records. His mixes also appear on Samurai FM. In addition to broadcasting and DJ work, he writes articles for British magazines and contributes sleeve notes and record comments.
