Nicholas Bullen is an artist and composer based in Birmingham, England. He works across sound, text, film, installation and performance, and his work focuses on the transformation of elements and systems of communication.

He begins his music career as a founder member of the extreme music group Napalm Death at the age of 13. He has more than 30 years of composition and live performance activity, with over 40 recordings released across solo and collaborative work. His practice includes fixed-media acousmatic composition built from environmental recordings, alongside live improvisation and real-time signal processing.

Bullen’s work is performed and exhibited in the United Kingdom and internationally. In the UK, it appears at venues and institutions including Tate Britain, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Hayward Gallery, the Serpentine Gallery and Arnolfini Gallery. Internationally, it is presented at Art Basel, White Columns, Creative Time, Schirn Kunsthalle and MACBA.
