NFD
NFD is a UK gothic rock group formed in 2002 by Tony Pettitt, Peter “Bob” White and Simon Rippin after the planned Fields of the Nephilim reunion falls through. Pettitt is the Fields of the Nephilim founder-bassist, while Rippin has previously played in both Nefilim and Fields of the Nephilim line-ups and also appears alongside White in Sensorium. White remains the band’s only constant member.
Line-up and personnel
For live performances, the band adds extra guitarists, including Chris Milden and Steve Carey. In 2008, Luca Mazzucconi replaces Simon Rippin on drums, and James McIlroy, known for work with Cradle of Filth, replaces Steve Carey on guitar. The current line-up recorded the EP Trinity, with Peter “Bob” White on vocals, lead guitar, bass, keyboards and programming, Chris Milden on rhythm guitar, Luca Mazzucconi on drums, and Arulei on violins.
Style, reception and activity
NFD’s Nephilim connection brings them immediate attention from gothic rock listeners. Their debut album No Love Lost receives strong critical praise, including favourable comments from Rock Sound, Metal Hammer and Sonic Seducer. Their press support is especially strong in Germany, with coverage in magazines such as Zillo, Orkus and Sonic Seducer.
Live dates and touring
The group plays numerous festivals in the UK and Germany, including Whitby, Dark City, Witchfest, Mera Luna, Zillo, Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Burgnachte and Herbsnachte. They also tour in the UK and Europe, both on their own and with Mortiis, Umbra et Imago and The Mission.
Release
In 2023, NFD issues the EP Trinity.
