Newton is the stage name of British singer Billy Myers, born in 1967. He starts as a UK fireman before moving into pop and club music, and he scores a series of dance and chart hits in the 1990s.

Career

Newton’s first hit is Sky High, a remake of the 1975 Jigsaw song. It is produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. His other club releases include both cover versions and original songs written by Myers. He is a featured artist on Love This Records before signing to Dome Records.

His first two singles both go gold in Australia. Sky High reaches gold status there in 1995. His second single, Sometimes When We Touch, is released on Dome Records Ltd through Festival, reaches number three on the Australian singles chart, and becomes his second consecutive gold record in that country. It also gives him his first UK top 40 success.

International reach

Newton has dance-chart hits across several European and Asian territories. He tours South East Asia and has chart success in Thailand. His songs are also played on radio in South Africa and Brazil.
