Newsted

Newsted is an American heavy metal and thrash metal band from Turlock, United States. It forms in 2012 around Jason Newsted, whose previous work includes Metallica, Flotsam and Jetsam, Voivod, Papa Wheelie, Echobrain, Sexoturica, Ozzy Osbourne, Spastic Children, Rock Star Supernova and WhoCares.

Formation and line-up

The group begins in December 2012 with Jason Newsted, drummer Jesus Mendez Jr. and guitarist Jessie Farnsworth. Mike Mushok, known for Staind, joins in March 2013. The band’s line-up is Jason Newsted on lead vocals and bass, Jesus Mendez Jr. on drums, Jessie Farnsworth on guitars and backing vocals, and Mike Mushok on guitars.

Releases

Newsted releases a four-song EP, Metal, in January 2013. Later that year it issues its debut album, Heavy Metal Music.

Activity

The band appears inactive by 2014, and its official website is later deactivated. Newsted stops touring with the group, citing other musical interests and the cost of taking the band on the road. The band is listed as active from 2012 to 2014.
