New Mexico is a San Diego post-punk and noise act that was formerly known as Apes of Wrath. The group is described as playing simple, fluid, well-crafted rock and roll with a heavy garage-pop edge, and its influences are linked to artists such as The Police, Devo, Wire and Mission of Burma. It is also known for its live performances.

Career

The band appears in San Diego music circles and is nominated for Best Local at the 2010 San Diego Music Awards. It is also selected by Aquarium Drunkard to play Waved Out in Los Angeles. Under the New Mexico name, the group releases its debut recording, Have You Met My Friend.
