Nelson

Nelson is a glam metal and AOR band from Santa Monica, United States, active from 1989 to the present. It is led by the twin brothers Gunnar Nelson and Matthew Nelson, and the group’s line-up includes Bobby Rock. The band is associated with hard rock, melodic rock and 1990s rock, and is also described as a melodic glam metal/AOR act.

Career

The band is founded by Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the sons of Ricky Nelson. It reaches mainstream success with “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection”, which becomes a No. 1 single in the United States in 1990. The group is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family to reach number one record status in three successive generations, beginning with Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.

Recordings and label history

Nelson parts company with Geffen Records after 1995 and continues to issue music independently through its own Stone Canyon Records label. Despite that continued activity, the band does not match the level of success it reaches with its debut era.
