Nekrogoblikon

Nekrogoblikon is a death metal group from Palo Alto, United States, active since 2006. The band’s lineup includes Eric W. Brown. Its music is tagged across death metal, melodic death metal, metal, symphonic metal, folk metal, power metal, and goblin metal, reflecting a style built around heavy riffs, fast arrangements, and a theatrical goblin theme.

History

The group begins in 2006, when Nicholas Von Doom and Tim start writing and recording material after finding a mysterious letter that orders them to make an album about humanity’s destruction by small creatures. They create their first release, Goblin Island, which appears in 2007. The band later expands by recruiting four more musicians, giving it a new lineup for its second album, Stench.

Releases and profile

Stench becomes the group’s second album and is followed by public performances of its material. The band’s profile grows online and it goes on to appear at large festivals in Europe. Nekrogoblikon is also endorsed by Vic Firth, Halo Guitars, The Mountain Clothing, and Sharpie.

Style

The group’s image and songwriting centre on goblins, with a mix of aggressive metal and deliberately absurd storytelling. Its stated sound combines crushing heaviness with catchy melodies and unusual instrumentation.
