Neil Wells is a British electronic music producer who records as Line. He is based in the United Kingdom and was raised in Germany. Alongside his solo work, he is a member of Savoy Grand, Seachange and Escapologists.
Line
Wells uses the name Line for his pop-electro and electronic material. What begins as a sideline to his other projects becomes his main focus, with the Line releases drawing on lo-fi electro, acid, indie rock and techno.
Releases and collaborations
His debut 7-inch, A Snowstorm in a Globe/Observe the Mechanics, appears in 2005. The record attracts attention from a range of writers and figures in the electronic scene, and is followed by a number of compilation appearances. He also plays live with Fog, Alias, The Bug, DMX Krew, Kid606, Debasser, Cylob and Panda Bear.
Wells later appears on Uncharted Audio’s Signals subscription 7-inch series alongside Plaid, Si Begg, King Cannibal and labelmate Cursor Miner. His debut full-length as Line, Hearts, presents electronic production as a set of love songs and is due on Uncharted Audio.
Other bands
Before concentrating on Line, Wells works in bands including Seachange, Savoy Grand and Escapologists. Savoy Grand releases music on Pickled Egg and Glitterhouse, while Seachange is associated with Matador.
