Neil Halstead is a British guitarist and singer from Reading, United Kingdom, born in 1970. He is associated with indie folk, folk, singer-songwriter, indie, indie pop and alt-country, and releases music on Shady Lane Records.

Career

Halstead is a founding member of Slowdive. He is also a member of The Pumpkin Fairies, Mojave 3, Black Hearted Brother and Zurich.

Mojave 3 and solo work

After Slowdive ends, Halstead forms Mojave 3 with other former members of Slowdive, including Rachel Goswell, a longtime friend and musical collaborator. Mojave 3 is a British country and folk band, and Halstead serves as its principal singer and songwriter.

He begins a solo career with Sleeping on Roads, his debut solo album, in 2002. His second solo album, Oh! Mighty Engine, follows in 2008, and his third solo album, Palindrome Hunches, follows in 2012.
