Need for Mirrors

Need for Mirrors is the drum and bass project of Joe Moses, who moves from New Zealand to the UK in 2003 and creates the alias in 2010. Born in 1991, he builds a reputation through a steady stream of releases on labels including Metalheadz, Spearhead, V Records and Shogun, as well as through remixes and collaborations. His work sits within drum and bass, with associations to techstep and the broader D&B scene.

Career and labels

After establishing Need for Mirrors, Moses forms his own label, Zoltar, in 2011. The label gives him a platform for vinyl culture and strong artwork, which are central to its presentation. He is also linked with Soul in Motion Records.

Soul In Motion

Together with Bailey, he helps found the London D&B night Soul In Motion, which becomes a notable part of his profile in the scene. The project is associated with his broader role as a contributor to contemporary drum and bass.

Style and output

Need for Mirrors is known for original productions and a large body of releases, along with remix work and collaborations. His music is described as part of the cutting edge of drum and bass, and his name is also linked with Cloud Lord.
