Ne Obliviscaris

Ne Obliviscaris is an Australian progressive metal group from Melbourne, active since 2003. Its line-up includes Xenoyr, Tim Charles, Matt Klavins, Daniel Presland, Benjamin Baret, Martino Garattoni and James Dorton. The band releases through Season of Mist.

Style and sound

Ne Obliviscaris blends progressive metal with melodic death metal and draws on black metal, thrash metal, melodic metal, western art music, jazz and flamenco. Its arrangements often feature violin alongside two guitars, bass, drums, clean vocals and harsh vocals. The group is known for long compositions, often running beyond ten minutes, and for shifting between technical complexity and more restrained passages.

Releases

The discography begins with the demo The Aurora Veil in 2007, followed by Portal of I in 2012, Citadel in 2014, the EPs Sarabande to Nihil and Hiraeth in 2015, Urn in 2017 and Exul in 2023. The two 2015 EPs draw on earlier material, with some tracks re-recorded, and were issued as limited-edition bonuses for supporters of the group’s crowdfunded world tour campaign.
