nd_baumecker

nd_baumecker is a DJ, promoter and label operator associated with Frankfurt am Main, Heidelberg, Mannheim and Berlin. He starts DJing in 1991 at Romantica, a bar in the Frankfurt station area, run by Hans Romanov. He also plays at Romanov’s Intimbar, where Ata and Heiko M/S/O of Playhouse begin to notice him. They later hire him as a shop assistant for their record shop Delirium and give him a residency at their WildPitchClub night at Club Nachtleben.

His work spans disco, house, techno, electro, minimal and maximal styles, and he describes his approach as open to anything between harder and softer sounds. He is known for mixing tracks in ways that bring very different records together into a coherent set. He also places importance on funk, disco qualities and vocals in dance music, and he identifies with a more “maximal” approach rather than limiting himself to one subgenre.

After playing regularly at clubs in Frankfurt such as Box, XS, Music Hall and Dorian Grey, he moves to Heidelberg and begins promoting a club night at HD800 with Dirk Mantei, also known as D-Man. After a short period in Mannheim, he moves to Berlin in 2004. There he continues to run his label Freundinnen, which releases music by Isolée, Snax, Lopazz, Ruede Hagelstein and Motivi:Tuntematon, and he takes up a residency at Panorama Bar.

His career is marked by work across several German cities, a long DJ practice beginning in the early 1990s, and a label catalogue that connects him with a range of contemporary electronic artists.
