Nathan Evans is a Scottish singer from Airdrie, Scotland, who performs folk and pop music and is known for singing sea shanties. He is born in 1994. Before beginning a music career, he works as a postal worker with Royal Mail in Airdrie.

Evans builds an online following by posting performances to TikTok, first with pop and folk songs and later with sea shanties. He posts his first traditional shanty, “Leave Her Johnny,” in July 2020, and gains wider attention the same year when his sea shanty videos prompt renewed interest in the form.

In 2021, he releases a cover of the 19th-century shanty “Wellerman,” which reaches number one in the UK Singles Chart and also charts in several other countries.
