Nadine Carina

Nadine Carina is a Swiss singer-songwriter who makes folk-based music with electronic elements. She is born in Switzerland and based in Liverpool, UK, and her background is described as half Italian and half Croatian.

Music and style

Her work moves between folk, indie folk, alternative, lo-fi and experimental approaches. She uses looping, vintage toys and small percussion instruments together with pedals, combining folk songwriting with electronic textures.

Releases

Her first album, Magic Box, is released by Stattmusik in 2011. She continues writing and recording after that, and her Little Bits EP follows in 2012 with an electro-experimental sound. That release receives positive attention from internet listeners and music blogs.

She also records four tracks live with producer Mathieu Bedwani at the LIPA studios in Liverpool, using guitar and voice directly to tape. In 2013 she releases a cassette on Furious Hooves in the USA. That tape contains five new songs recorded in her bedroom on a Tascam Portastudio four-track recorder bought on eBay, and it is described as having a melancholy, mysterious, mellow character.

Collaborations

She works with Mathieu Bedwani again on Where I Love, an EP made by rearranging her songs with a full band. This release comes out as a limited CD edition.
