Mythra

Mythra is a heavy metal band from South Shields, active since 1976. The group is associated with the NWOBHM movement and was formerly known as Zarathustra.

Early activity and releases

The band produces a string of early work in the late 1970s and 1980s, but does not release its first official full-length album, The Death and Destiny LP, until it reforms in 1998.

Line-up

The group includes Maurice Bates, Vince High and John Roach. An earlier line-up lists Vince High on vocals, Maurice “Mo” Bates on rhythm guitar, Alex Perry on lead guitar, Pete Melson on bass and Barry Hopper on drums.
