Mystical Weapons

Mystical Weapons is an instrumental improvisational duo from the United States, made up of Sean Ono Lennon and Greg Saunier. Lennon is also known for The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, while Saunier is associated with Deerhoof.

The group begins as an ad hoc project formed after a show in San Francisco where the Plastic Ono Band plays with Deerhoof, and where Sean Ono Lennon asks Greg Saunier to open a Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger club date the following day. The pairing leads to a collaboration that continues beyond the original one-off performance.

The duo works in an instrumental, experimental and psychedelic mode, with music that moves across different moods and styles. Their sound is described as being held together by carefully considered composition and spontaneous performance, with an emphasis on improvisation between the two players.
