MYNC Project

MYNC Project are a house DJ and production duo made up of Mark Brown and Nick Corelli. They are known for four-deck, two-mixer DJ sets using effects units, and for treating DJing as a form of live musical creation rather than simply playing records. The pair have worked together for eight years and build their sound around underground house.

Production and remixes

The duo produce and remix their own material as well as other artists’ work. Their tracks include Something On Your Mind, released through Apollo and Universal in the UK and Yoshitoshi in the US, and Strobelight, a collaboration with Danny Rampling on Positiva and EMI. They also release R U Sure on Cr2 Records as a more underground track. Their remix work includes TV Rock, Danny Howells, Narcotic Thrust, Bush II Bush and Kevin Saunderson’s Inner City, whose Pennies From Heaven they rework strongly enough for Virgin Records and Saunderson to use it as an A-side and radio edit on a re-release.

Labels, radio and compilations

Mark Brown runs Cr2 Records and previously works in A&R for Credence Records at EMI, where he signs more than 25 UK Top 40 singles. The duo mix Cr2’s compilation series United Nations of House, issued for the label’s first birthday, and launch thisismyhouse for Incentive Music’s Art & Craft imprint. Their radio appearances include BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes in May 2006 and July 2002, plus a live mix from the Galaxy stage at Creamfields where they warm up for Goldfrapp.

Residencies, club work and performances

MYNC Project begin DJing at Passion in Coalville in 1999, starting in the Redroom before moving to the Main Room in 2003. Their Passion residency leads to them being voted Future Heroes for 2002 in M8 magazine. They also hold residencies on the Amnesia terrace for Cream in Ibiza in 2003 and 2004, at The Cross in 2003 and 2004, at Coastline on a fortnightly basis, and later with M.Y.N.C. Sessions at Leicester University and at Godskitchen’s Nitrogen Rooms. They DJ for Kylie Minogue and at the Kill Bill 2 after-party. Their touring includes dates in Australia, Asia, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Germany and other countries.
