Mustard and the Monocle

Mustard and the Monocle is an indie/folk project based in Wiltshire and Oxford, UK. It forms in July 2010 and settles on its current name after brief periods performing as Captain Bringmedown and the Pessimistic Starship, Whoa! That’s My Tail, and Wooden Leg, Real Foot.

The group is built around frontman James Devine and brothers Jamie Small, who plays bass, and Simon Small, who plays drums. Their sound draws on punk and indie roots from earlier bands and blends these with more recent folk influences, with an emphasis on energetic, harmony-filled arrangements. Hugh Langworthy later joins the line-up on pianorgan and glockenspiel.
