MÚR is an Icelandic group active since 2021. Based in Iceland, the band’s sound is rooted in post-metal, post-rock and progressive metal, and it also draws on shoegaze, doom and sludge.

The group forms in Reykjavik and builds long, atmospheric pieces that combine shimmering guitars, layered textures and vocals set against dense walls of sound. Its music is described through contrasts between delicate melody and heavier passages, with an emphasis on immersive, expansive arrangements.

MÚR’s writing also reflects influences from the Icelandic landscape and from personal introspection, which gives the music a reflective character. The group is made up of Sigurður Jakobsson, Hilmir Árnason, Kári Haraldsson, Jón Ísak Ragnarsson, Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson and Ívar Andri Klausen.
