mudBox
mudBox is a heavy music group from central New Jersey. The band forms after several member changes, with four members brought together by a shared vision. Its line-up consists of Kevin Schormann on vocals, Tony Hermosilla on guitar, Joey Crap on bass, and Rob Kubik on drums.
The group plays modern heavy music with a nu metal and alternative metal lean. Its sound is described as emotional and direct, with melodic vocals, aggressive delivery, strong guitar tone, punchy bass lines, and intense drumming. The band is compared to Sevendust and Staind.
Recordings
mudBox records a full-length album, Dead Comfortable Feeling, in the summer of 2001 at The Carriage House Studios in Stamford, Connecticut. The release includes tracks such as “Face in the Crowd” and “Tolerance”. In early 2002, the band enters the studio to record the six-song EP Becoming, which shifts further towards melody and song structure. Tracks on the EP include “This Time”, “Temptation”, “Letting Go”, “Becoming”, “Far Away”, and “Headtrip”.
The band stays away from rap-metal crossover and continues to present itself as a four-piece group focused on hard-edged, melodic songwriting.
