Mr. Bruce is the stage name used by at least two musicians. The name includes Ian Bruce, a UK-based dance artist and singer with the electroswing duo The Correspondents, and Elbrus Cherkezov, a Russian soul bassist associated with Bad B. The entry commonly refers to the Russian musician, who is born in 1968 in Makiivka, Russia, and also works as a solo artist.

Elbrus Cherkezov

Elbrus Cherkezov joins Bad B. as bassist in 1996 and remains the group’s bass player. He is described as the only member of the band with formal musical education, and he contributes an original sound to the group’s material. He also works in New York on recording different instrumental parts for the album Stone Forest.

In 2001 he begins developing a modern soul direction. He later produces the compilation series R'n'B for Love, released on the 100PRO label, and issues a solo album titled World of Jumanji. He also sometimes performs live bass in the Bad B. line-up.

Ian Bruce

Ian Bruce is the singer for The Correspondents, an electroswing duo he fronts from 2007 to 2020. After the death of his bandmate Tim Cole, also known as Chucks, he begins releasing solo material in 2021. His first solo single is Race To Nowhere, followed by I Am Disaster. A solo debut album and first UK solo tour are announced for the following year.

While performing with The Correspondents, he appears in The Telegraph’s top 10 Glastonbury highlights in two consecutive years. The band’s single Fear & Delight wins Best VFX at the Berlin Music Video Awards 2014, and its director, Naren Wilks, is named overall winner for Best Production. The song also serves as the theme tune for the BBC Three sitcom Crims.
