Mr Beatnick is a UK producer and DJ who moves between hip-hop, house, techno, downtempo, future jazz and wonky sounds. He begins as one of the relatively few hip-hop producers to move into house and techno, and his work develops a reputation for combining those scenes with the UK underground.

Releases and labels

In the late 2000s, he releases music on Far Out and Altered Vibes. He also contributes remixes for artists including Azymuth and Atjazz. His breakthrough comes with “Synthetes”, a string-led house track released on Semtek’s Don’t Be Afraid label in 2011. The track receives widespread critical attention and regular support from DJs including Gilles Peterson, Scuba, Jamie XX, Paul Woolford and Deetron. He follows it with “Sun Goddess” in 2012, and later completes a house trilogy with the “Savannah” EP on Mythstery Records.

DJ and radio work

As a DJ, Mr Beatnick plays a wide-ranging style, with sets that move quickly across house, techno, hip-hop and related underground sounds. He also presents a monthly show on NTS Radio, which becomes a cult favourite among London listeners.
