Movements
Movements is a US post-hardcore and emo band from Orange County, California, active since 2015. The line-up includes Patrick Miranda on vocals, Ira George on guitar, Spencer York on drums, and Austin Cressey on bass.
Career and sound
The band forms in Rancho Santa Margarita in 2015 and develops a style that sits across post-hardcore, emo, alternative rock, pop punk and rock. Its music combines emotional subject matter with elements of post-punk grit, expansive rock, spoken word passages and pop-leaning melody.
Releases
Movements releases the EP Outgrown Things in 2016 and follows it with its debut full-length album Feel Something in 2017. The second full-length album, No Good Left To Give, appears on Fearless Records and continues the group’s focus on relationships, loss, love, mental health and intimacy.
Reception and related work
The band builds a larger audience through tracks including “Daylilly”, “Full Circle” and “Colorblind”, and it passes 40 million total streams by 2020. It also receives notice from Brooklyn Vegan, AXS, Rock Sound and Culture Collide. Outside its own releases, the group works with the Alzheimer’s Association on the “Deadly Dull” video and records a cover of R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” for the Songs that Saved My Life compilation.
