Moussu T e lei Jovents

Moussu T e lei Jovents is an Occitan group from La Ciotat. The project forms around Moussu T, also known as Tatou, who is one of the founding members of Massilia Sound System.

Formation and members

The group records its first album in April 2005 under the title Mademoiselle Marseille. It brings together Moussu T with the guitarist Blu, another Massilia Sound System figure, along with Brazilian musician Jamilson Da Silva and the percussionist Fred Zerbino, who is also from La Ciotat. Blu also takes part in Òaï Star, a Marseille-based offshoot linked to Massilia Sound System.

Style and recordings

The music is described through colourful Provençal songs, banjo-led rhythm, memories of working-class life, Mediterranean poetry and an inspiration drawn from Marseille in the 1930s. The group’s second album, Forever polida, follows in 2006.
