Motorcycle Display Team
Motorcycle Display Team are a London-based indie rock group active since 2007. The band begins with Mog, described as a drummer from Dublin, and Steve, a former actor from Bletchley on vocals and guitar, who meet through a Gumtree confessions page. They share an interest in Queens of the Stone Age and other heavy melodic rock acts, and first perform under several names before settling on Motorcycle Display Team, a name taken from an in-joke. Early names include Little Sisters, French Kisses, Xes and Sancho Pan7a, though the latter causes confusion with Notting Hill Carnival DJs of the same name.
Releases and recognition
The group self-produces and releases an EP, The Crayon Masterpiece, in 2009. They receive airplay on BBC 6 Music and Absolute Radio’s Unsigned Band Review show, where their demo Betweenager is named Hotpick of the Week. Their videos appear on Sky TV’s The Source, and the track Firecracker features in a BBC sitcom.
Line-up
At a later stage, the band adds ex-23 Frames bassist Fabio Felizzi to the line-up. They then work through material from a large back catalogue while preparing a debut album.
