Motherland

Motherland is an electronic art pop project based in Berlin and active in the late 2000s. The group is formed by SOPHIE and Marcella Dvsi. It plays live shows in Berlin and in the UK during 2008 and 2009.

The name is also used by several unrelated acts, including a five-piece alt-rock band from the North East of England, a jungle group with releases on Mark Ryder’s low-price label linked to Strictly Underground, and a rock band formed by former members of Bonham.

In the Berlin project, SOPHIE later works with Matthew Lutz-Kinoy on a series of performance works.
