Morgan

Morgan is the performance name of Marco Castoldi, an Italian singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Milano, Italy, born in 1972. He is a founding member of Bluvertigo, the Italian band he forms in 1991 with Andrea “Andy” Fumagalli, Sergio Carnevale and Marco Pancaldi, later replaced by Livio Magnini.

Bluvertigo

With Bluvertigo, Morgan is part of a trio of albums often described as the group’s chemical trilogy: Acidi E Basi (1995), Metallo Non Metallo (1997) and Zero (1999). After the compilation Pop Tools appears in 2001, the band goes on hiatus for an indefinite period.

Solo work and collaborations

Morgan begins his solo career in 2003 with Canzoni dell'appartamento, a concept album that draws on Italian songwriting, classical music and Pink Floyd. The album includes an Italian-language reworking of Pink Floyd’s “If”, and it earns him the Premio Tenco. In 2004 he writes the soundtrack for Alex Infascelli’s film Il siero della vanità. In 2005 he releases Non al denaro, non all'amore né al cielo, a remake of Fabrizio De André’s 1971 album, inspired by Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology. His album Da A...ad A follows in 2007.

He also collaborates and appears as a guest on recordings by Franco Battiato, Subsonica, Cristina Donà, Mauro Pagani and others. He appears in Franco Battiato’s film Perduto Amor. As a teenager, he plays piano and performs solo material including songs by David Bowie and Japan.
