Monolake
Monolake is a German electronic group that begins in 1995 as a project by Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke. Later releases feature Henke working alone, while Behles concentrates on the Ableton software company. Torsten “T++” Pröfrock also becomes an official member of the group. The act remains active.
Style and release history
Monolake works across ambient, ambient techno, dub techno, IDM and minimal techno. Its sound is usually associated with minimal techno and dub-influenced textures. One exception is Gobi. The Desert EP from 1999, which contains a single 37-minute atmospheric piece.
Labels and collaboration
The group first issues an album and several 12-inch releases on Berlin’s Chain Reaction label, then on Monolake/Imbalance Computer Music, a label run by Robert Henke. Polygon_Cities, released in 2005, is a collaboration between Henke and Torsten “T++” Pröfrock.
