Monkey's Fist is a four-piece instrumental Celtic fusion band formed in spring 2010 and based in Hampshire, UK. The group plays a style built around intricate, catchy and soulful instrumental music with roots in several traditions.

Line-up

The band consists of Sam Piper on whistles, Jody Smith on guitar, Chaz Collett on bass and Simon Ford on percussion.

Debut album

Their debut album, The Boardroom, is a ten-track release led by whistle and drawing together Irish elements with jazz inflections, funk, bluegrass, Latin rhythms and gypsy-influenced passages.

Reception

Monkey's Fist is described in comment from BBC Radio Lancashire as “a fresh, creative and energetic band”, while other remarks associated with the group note their whistle-led approach and tightly played sound.
